Our golden superannuation goose to be plucked again…

Most people would have heard that the Labor Government is initially changing some superannuation rules and taxation on super and pensions. At this point it is only targeted to clients with individual balances over $3mill in super or pensions, and will not start until 1 July 2025, possibly after the next election.

 We have always anticipated that politicians will look at super as a honey pot for possible taxation revenue. Questions remain whether this is a contagion that will slowly seep downwards to lower balances in due course and what other measures Labor may bring in.
