Magellan National Roadshow – “The Great Repression”

During the event, Hamish, Magellan’s Chairman and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) provided us with an update on global markets, covering the macro and geo-political challenges and changes shaping the current investment landscape. There is no doubt that as each of you meet with your respective advisers you will hear us relay comments and insights provided by Hamish on the night.

Inevitably this included an update on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in which he cemented his position in which Magellan was not considering selling assets, rather see it as an opportunity to purchase opportunities at a reduced cost for cash holdings on hand.

On completion of Hamish’s presentation, they invited a special guest to present a Q & A on stage. Hamish’s special guest to the event was, Michael Morell, a former deputy direct and acting director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Today Michael is the Global Chairman of the Geo-Political Risk Practise at Beacon Global Strategies and an adviser to Magellan and key contributor to their macro investment decisions.

Michael provided us with detailed information on the Geo-political status internationally. He and Hamish spent considerable time discussing the ongoing conflicts between China and the United States, Korea’s status as a nuclear threat and growth of cyber crime and the impacts this has on the economy.

The night provided us with greater clarity on Magellan’s investment viewpoint and instilled confidence in their long-term status as a major investment allocation across our client portfolios.

As always should you have any questions or would like additional information regarding this subject please contact us, we would be more than happy to discuss further.
